1993 Richelieu 4103 (Golden Eagle)
Price: $2,250.00 USD
This is my first C.C. Richelieu banjo and it is in absolutely mint conidtion with only the most minor issues noted below. Richelieu was based in Wisconsin and built hundreds of banjos as well as doing lots of work on tenors (B&D especially). I've always admired his marquetry resonators and I am mighty impressed with both the build quality and sound/playability of this banjo. It reminds me a lot of Wildwoods in its construction and has the especially nice quality of being convertible between an open back and a flatplate flange/full bluegrass style. This banjo has Richelieu's version of Vega's Whyte Laydie/Electric tonering - which he called the Lyte Laydie. It is really quite revelatory to hear such a ring with a traditional co-rod/ full bluegrass resonator.
Check out the pictures and videos linked below - I recorded briefly as an open back and then a longer one with picks with the flange/resonator installed. This thing sounds awesome for old time (as an openback) but boy it really shines as a resonator in bluegrass configutation! SUPER responsive and just piercing clarity and volume. It will ship in the resonator configuration in its original purple lined hardshell case.
Condition: 3 professionally filled Shubb capo holes, some dulling to the nickel hardware.
