Gibson Florentine Custom Tenor Banjo made 1930 restored - with new Tweed HS case. $10,195
Price: $10,195.00 USD
This is a near mint tenon Gibson Florentine Custom Tenor Banjo made in 1930.. The original finger board did not have the scenes of Venice. Renee Karnes did a complete restoration on the banjo, and the finger board now has all the proper Venetian scenes. She also refinished it with the original varnish colors used by Gibson in 1930, Need I say more. Serial No. 9227 on neck. All metal parts were re-gold plated. the picture of the arm rest has a slight brownish color. That is in the photograph the gold plating is fine. The original engraving on the armrest is worn due to the re-plating process. Note: The armrest must be totally buffed down to the original brass before it is re-plated first with nickel and then the gold.
Why custom? Gibson used some "All American" engravings for the armrest and tone ring. The other engraved parts are Florentine. Not sure what Gibson pattern was used for the flange. All the engravings go together very nicely If you didn't know this you would never even notice.
