Rare Tokai T-1200R-W / Gold Star GF-100 W banjo, made in Japan 1981. A well crafted mahogany banjo with an original 3-ply rim and a sand-cast bronze flathead tone ring.

The instrument has been completely dismantled, cleaned and selectively restored. A small area on the heel has been repaired. The hardware displays an even, consistent patina – a wonderful vintage look that should not be polished away. In addition, there are minor marks in the varnish on the neck and resonator. The finish on the resonator is heavily yellowed, presumably due to light exposure.

Despite these imperfections, the banjo sounds perfect with its new setup. It has been fitted with a new Remo head, a 5/8" Dotson bridge and GHS light strings. The banjo has a rich tone, with plenty of twang and clear highs!
