1929 Recording King (Gibson) prewar Style 505 banjo - Granada meets Style 4 meets Style 6

Price: $5,000.00 USD

1929 Recording King Style 505 banjo for sale. This is a rare Gibson made Recording King style 505. The style 505 was a roughly a Gibson Style 6 banjo with chrome hardware (like a style 4) and a Granada flamed maple (rather than Argentine Grey) resonator. Instead of Gold Sparkle or Checkerboard, it had “jewel” inlay in the binding.
This banjo (FON 9426-xx) is all original except for a replaced prewar punched Presto tailpiece. Comes with original tenor neck. Recording King script block from headstock was removed and used in the headstock of the Al Jamieson conversion neck. 40 hole archtop ring, tube and plate (hex) flange, two piece armrest. New low crown head. Original vintage tuners with mother of pearl knobs. Comes with Crossrock fiberglass case
