Pristine Circa mid 1870s Harry Spratt 6 string open back banjo with coffin case. Museum quality!
Price: £6,000.00 GBP ($7,926.16 USD)
Circa mid 1870s Harry Spratt 6 string smooth arm banjo with its original wooden coffin case. Built while his shop was still on Cathrine Street before he moved to Duke Street. Museum quality working conservation. 99 percent original condition. The case lock has a working key but will not engage when closed. All parts are original to this banjo. Only two changes were made to it. The only two original tuning pegs that were with this banjo were both damaged beyond repair. I built 5 new ebony pearl dot pegs to match the original ones and replaced the missing 6th string pip. No chemicals or liquids of any kind were used to clean this banjo. The original varnish was dry wiped with only dry cotton buds. All other parts of this banjo are completely original. A very rare early example of his fine work. It is light weighing only 1/4 of a kilo and is strung with handmade NRI (Northern Renaissance Instruments) gut strings. Price is negociable. I will consider offers. Please watch youtube.com/watch?v=h81OF2wOv-k an in depth video With interview with Mr. Spratt.
